Mini-courses to improve the culture of feedback and learning.

From Dialogue Culture to Feedback Culture

The team of the company consists of 11 self-driving people, who most often work individually on their own projects in cooperation with other departments of the organization. In recent years, they have focused on creating a culture of dialogue in order to strengthen the sense of community in the team, and the team leader considered that a natural next step in the development of the team would be an increased focus on peer feedback — partly to strengthen relationships and partly to increase learning in the team.

Feedwork was specifically asked to help the team with:

  • Inspiration and motivation to seek more feedback
  • Tools and skills to engage in feedback dialogues
  • Knowledge about what mechanisms make feedback work well

Virtual mini-course

The solution was to run two shorter virtual workshop sessions as the team sits spread out across different geographic locations. To maximize the learning outcomes of the sessions, we highly weighted that participants were given materials and assignments, prior to, during, and after the sessions. Specifically, the course focused on:

  • Simple tools on how they can go out and seek out relevant and good feedback for their projects and work.
  • Better understanding of your own and colleagues' preferences for receiving feedback.
  • A plan with the team leader on how the team can implement and develop their feedback culture
